Book a Free Consultation

Our artwork can be purchased direct from our showroom. If, however you need two or more pieces and would like to get the flow right, our free consultation is an ideal way of doing this.
Essentially what we do is bring the artwork- 2u! To arrange this service, all you need to do is come in to the showroom and select the pieces you would like us to take to show you in your home or business. This makes the decision process so much easier as you get to see the art on your walls with your individual decor. Before coming in we recommend that you decide the number of walls you would like to decorate, take measurements of the walls (so you know what size painting you require), and also think about the colours you would like in your paintings. Taking a photo of each room (showing all your decor) is a great help to us, as we are then able to more accurately assist you with suggestions. If we can stress one point, that would be to make sure you come in and make your artwork selction when you are ready to have us come out to you and when you are ready to purchase your artwork. If you book your consultation too far out, you will probably find that the pieces you selected have already sold.

The consultation itself is fun and easy and best of all it’s free !
We take the paintings out to you and hold them up on the wall. It really takes the guesswork out of the selection process.

Handy Hints

Choose the best shape
Generally, a square or vertical shaped painting looks best when the painting is to sit on its own, on a wall.
A horizontal shaped painting generally presents better when positioned above furniture, such as a lounge, dining table, buffet or bed head.

Create the illusion of space
If you would like to make your room look bigger, then we recommend that you choose paintings with lighter, brighter colours, as dark colours can draw a room in.
Don’t overdo the amount of artwork you’re displaying. One larger piece of artwork is more effective than several smaller ones.

Keep it at eye level
Artwork should be hung with the centre of the piece slightly above eye level. A common mistake people make is to hang their artwork too high. Art is much more enjoyed and appreciated when you can look straight into it.

Hanging it Straight
We always recommend that you use two hooks when hanging art, no matter how small the piece. This is to ensure perfect alignment at all times. Using a spirit level will help determine the artwork sits perfectly square.

FIRST impressions count when it comes to real estate and a well-chosen piece of art can bring instant impact and pizazz to a home.

Caringbah business Artwork2U specialises in affordable decor art, and owners John Edmonds and Almis Mestrovic have found a niche in leasing artworks to home owners and real estate agents who want to lift the presentation of a property for sale.

The business first offered its short-term leasing arrangement last year and Ms Mestrovic said it had proven popular with clients who were after an inexpensive way to bring some colour and design into a space.

‘‘Real estate agents and property stylists approached us about leasing our art,’’ Ms Mestrovic said. ‘‘They have found our art is ideal for people who are selling their homes. It adds interest and colour and really draws the eye. It just gives people a greater chance of selling their property.’’

When a client is interested in leasing artworks, staff from Artwork2U will visit the property for a free consultation to work out the number and style of artworks needed.

They would then choose and deliver the artworks to the property, hang them if required and collect the artworks after the marketing campaign was completed.

Artworks are leased for a minimum of four weeks and delivery is free within St George and Sutherland Shire, or for a small fee to other parts of Sydney.

The leasing service is in addition to Artwork2U’s popular home and business consultations, and clients can also visit the business’s Caringbah showroom to browse a regularly updated collection of some 600 artworks.

Ms Mestrovic said a shipment of 300 new artworks arrived just before Christmas.

‘‘We’ve taken customer trends and looked at the sizes, shapes, colours and designs that were really popular and haped the new collection around that,’’ she said. ‘‘Abstract artworks, bold shades of red, orange and chocolate brown and neutral colours are very popular choices now. Buyers are also gravitating towards rectangular-shaped artworks and the use of texture and metallics.’’

In the last 4 years of trading we have noticed a definite trend in the style, colour, and size that our customer’s choose when purchasing artwork for their home.

Abstract art pieces are definitely the most highly sort after style. Most abstracts purchased are of patterns, utilising squares, lines or circular designs, closely followed by abstract beach scenes and florals. Generally, beach scenes are often chosen by our male customers, florals are often more appreciated by our female customers and couples tend to lean towards the abstract patterned pieces.

In the subject of colour, I would have to say that red is one of the most requested colours, closely followed by oranges and chocolates. Neutrals, such as beige, ivory, grey, and white are also very popular. Most of our customers seek neutrals for their bedroom, being the place of rest. Reds, oranges and bold colours are predominately in main areas such as entry foyers, living areas and dining areas. This is where people tend to want to make a statement and create that visual impact with a bright splash of colour.

The most popular shape we sell is rectangular, as they sit well above furniture such as buffets, dining tables, sofas and bed heads. Square pieces are usually chosen for blank wall spaces where there is no furniture and there is more depth to cover.

Practically everyone that visits our showroom loves the texture that we use in the majority of our paintings. The texture adds to the painting and gives it more depth and a sculptured effect. It shows a lot more craftsmanship and gives a great visual effect when hung on the wall.

Paintings with a lot of metallic are also in high demand. These paintings have radiance about them. They shine and glimmer, particularly when positioned under down lights.

“Choosing art for your home is very individual. You have to live with it and see it on a daily basis, so do not be influenced by family or friends that may well have different tastes. If you like it, buy it for you….not others”

Next time you consider brightening up your living space with a quick lick of paint, why not select a decorative and affordable piece of art that compliments your existing decor instead?

John Edmonds, from Caringbah’s Artwork2u, said many people were looking for an inexpensive way to bring art and colour into their homes or offices. Artwork2u, formerly known as Smart Art Cronulla, began in 2006 and designs hand painted canvases for homes and businesses to give the decor a stylish and modern look.

Mr Edmonds said he mainly carried out consultations for private homes and businesses, but also has contracts with real estate agents to provide artworks to homes listed for sale. ‘‘The artwork brightens the room, it draws the eye so
if you have imperfections or flaws your eye is distracted from these and drawn to the artwork instead.’’

He said his staff would begin with a free in-home consultation for clients to determine their individual needs and style.

‘‘First of all we ask what effect they want to achieve and whether they like colours or neutrals,’’ he said. ‘‘We use a lot of texture and fabrics in our selections because it can give flat surfaces dimension and variability.’’

The idea for the business came when Mr Edmonds and his partner Almis Mestrovic went looking for an inexpensive way
to brighten the walls of their new home.

‘‘We bought a number of ‘decor art’ pieces to match the colours of our decor,’’ Mr Edmonds said. ‘‘And while this style of art won’t increase in value or boast a fancy signature it has colour, texture and gives any room an instant wow factor. The pieces come framed and ready to hang on your wall so it’s a really cost effective way to add a bit of zing to your home. And because they are inexpensive, you can change them when you change your decor.’’

The Caringbah showroom has more than 600 pieces of art on display for clients to choose from and designs are regularly updated.

‘‘Reds are always popular as are metallics. Silver metallics are especially big right now,’’ Mr Edmonds said. ‘‘Chocolates, creams and beiges are always a popular choice.’’

Our brief to artwork2u, was to create an atmosphere of refurbishment while keeping within a modest budget.
Specifically, the artwork needed to provide a “wow factor” and a focal point for our guests to enjoy.
artwork2u worked within our time frame i.e. we refurbished one floor at a time, and they came out when we required.
Due to our bulk buy, artwork2u also carried over a generous discount.
I would not hesitate to recommend artwork2u to any one in the hospitality industry, as the art, and service provided, have made a big difference to our rooms -
not to mention a cost effective way to assist in the refurbishment process.

Adding a piece of artwork to a blank wall can really bring a room to life and give it a lift. There are many things to consider prior to
purchasing art, such as shape, colour and positioning. Below are some handy hints I have listed to assist you with your choice.

Choose the best shape

Generally, a square of vertical piece looks best when the artwork sits on its own on a wall.
A horizontal piece generally presents better when positioned above furniture, such as a lounge, dining table, buffet or bed head.

Create the illusion of space

Choose paintings with lighter, brighter colours, as dark colours can draw a room in and make it feel smaller.
Don’t overdo the amount of artwork you’re displaying. One larger piece of artwork is more effective than several smaller ones.

Keep it at eye level

Artwork should be hung with the centre of the piece slightly above eye level. A common mistake people make is to hang their
artwork too high. Art is much more enjoyed and appreciated when you can look straight into it.

Hanging it straight

It is always recommended to use two hooks when hanging art no matter how small the piece to
ensure perfect alignment at all times. Using a spirit level can help determine the artwork sits perfectly square.

There is nothing more satisfying than to buy a piece of artwork that you love and find that it attracts a lot of compliments and
becomes a focal point in your home.
